HELLO READERS

What inspired you to self publish?
Looking back at my author journey, I had to sit back and reflect about what I wanted and what I didn't want for my books. As someone who is creative and empathetic, I find the value of my stories holds a deeper significance. All in all, I want to hold the full rights and have control over the creative process (like choosing my book cover, amongst the interior design, the marketing, etc)
What inspired to become an author?.
When I was younger, in my early 20's, writing was an outlet. It helped me escape a lot of times, and I used various forms to do so. Whether it was getting lost in thoughts, daydreaming about characters and worlds, roleplaying or free writing, I was always channeling that energy into words on paper.
It was only in 2020 that I decided to pursue writing more professionally. I told myself that I wanted to share my writing because it could help someone else, as it helped me. I have to admit that many books shaped me as a person, giving me the confidence to chase my dreams.

What inspired Between Shadows & Stars?
During the pandemic, I felt like I finally had time to do things that made me happy. Until then, I was focusing on my schooling and working long enough to pay for my schooling. Writing and books were a part of my daily lives, but not as much as I wanted. From 2018, I would write about this world (now known as Crypts of Pomegranate) and to me, it was mostly for fun. But I would often buck around the 15 k mark... I have unlimited beginnings to stories I may never publish, but it was only a matter of finishing, of finding a story I was passionate about in the moment... and I found that in Reyna's story, a character I wrote in a roleplay group and found myself falling in love for. Then, the rest came to life, thanks to all the support from the writers in the community. They kept me going, no matter how obscure the finish line seemed.

I wish I could pinpoint exactly when I started writing, but I remember that when I was in elementary, I was very passionate about world building and creating storylines. I was always completely immersed in my creative projects.
At the time, I channeled that energy towards theater. I would make up stories, often taking existing fairytales and making them my own with unique twists and bends.
While I do love writing, it isn't the only thing I enjoy doing. Other hobbies like crafting and reading help me further absorb creative energy. I used to believe myself of a movie/tv show lover, but recently, I don't prioritize those as much. I would, however, never deny a movie night !
I tend to gravitate towards fantasy and whimsical things: especially in cinema. (And not only because of the popcorn...)

My favorite thing to write about is fantasy retellings, adventure style quests and romance tropes that are often kicked under a carpet and forgotten.
Between Shadows & Stars has been in the works over two years now and I am so excited for it be released in the summer! Stay updated by joining my newsletter, following me on my social media for all the news!
